Conducting

Jim Skaleski is currently the assistant conductor with the Oconomowoc Chamber Orchestra affiliate community ensemble, the Lake Country Orchestra. He also co-conducts the concert bands at Kettle Moraine Middle School in Dousman, Wisconsin.

While pursuing his undergraduate degree at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, he studied conducting with Dr. Richard Mark HeidelDr. Randy Dickerson, and Dr. James Colonna. He took opportunities to conduct the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Wind Symphony, Symphony Band, and Blugold Marching Band. In 2007, Mr. Skaleski was selected as one of 4 drum majors for the marching band's European tour.

While a student teacher at the Fall Creek School District in Fall Creek, WI, Mr. Skaleski was responsible for teaching and conducting the high school symphonic band, middle school band, 6th grade band, and high school jazz ensemble. He completed his semester-long student teaching practicum in June of 2009.

Following student teaching, Mr. Skaleski attended the University of North Texas Conductors Collegium in Denton, TX. While there, he worked with Dennis FischerEugene Corporon, and James Jordon, along with many other supportive participants while also being provided the opportunity to conduct the North Texas Wind Symphony. He will be participating in the workshop again in the summer of 2012.
